Help in Study: English — Writing Better Essays Without Cheating

There is a wrong way to use AI for English. You paste the prompt, ask for the essay, copy it, hand it in. You get a B and you learned nothing.
There is a right way. You use AI as a coach, not a ghostwriter.
The right loop
- You read the prompt, twice.
- You brainstorm three angles for ten minutes. Pen and paper if possible.
- Ask the Essay Coach for thesis options. You pick one. The AI does not pick for you.
- You write the first paragraph yourself.
- Ask the coach for line edits. Accept the ones that make your voice sharper. Reject the ones that flatten you.
- You write the rest. Repeat the line-edit step on each paragraph.
- Submit. Your voice. Your argument. Sharper because of the coach.
What examiners actually reward
UK boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) use command words: describe gets fewer marks than evaluate. AP US History rewards historical thinking, not opinions. IB rewards specific evidence. CBSE rewards clear structure and neat handwriting.
A generic AI does not know any of this. A tool with your curriculum baked in does. That is why the Mark My Answer tool grades in your board's style.
A simple essay shape that works for almost everything
- One-sentence thesis at the end of the introduction
- Three body paragraphs, each starting with a topic sentence
- Each body paragraph follows the PEEL pattern (Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link)
- A conclusion that does not just repeat the introduction
If your essay does not follow this shape, you will lose easy marks even when your ideas are good.
The honest catch
If you let AI write your essay, you will fail the in-class one. Use it to think faster, not to think less.
