SAT prep Mathematics help — done properly
The Digital SAT Math section is adaptive — Module 2 difficulty depends on your Module 1 performance. The strategy is: nail Module 1 to unlock the harder Module 2, which is where the higher score comes from. A perfect Module 1 + average Module 2 still gets you ~720; the reverse caps at ~640.
Exam format you'll actually sit
Digital SAT Math: 2 modules of 22 questions each, 35 min each (70 min total). All questions calculator-allowed (Desmos built-in). Scored 200-800.
Highest-yield topics (the ones that show up year after year)
- Linear equations + systems
- Quadratic equations (vertex form, factoring, quadratic formula)
- Exponents and exponential functions
- Geometry: angles, circles, triangles, similarity
- Statistics: mean, median, mode, standard deviation interpretation
- Word problems with proportions and percentages
- Function notation and composition
Drill these first. If you can't do every one of these cold, work through them with /explain or /problem-variants.
Common mistakes that quietly cost marks
- Not using Desmos for graphing questions (saves minutes)
- Misreading the question (always re-read the last sentence)
- Spending >2 min on a question and not moving on
- Geometry: not drawing the figure even when not provided
- Word problems: not defining variables clearly
