Federal Board (FBISE) Physics help — done properly
FBISE physics rewards two skills: doing the derivation cleanly and showing each step of a numerical calculation. Pre-Engineering students also need their physics fluent for ECAT. The same AI that explains a chapter can re-explain it in ECAT MCQ style if you ask.
Exam format you'll actually sit
Objective + Subjective, same format as other Pakistani science subjects. Numerical problems usually carry 3-5 marks each. Derivations are common long-answer questions worth 5-8 marks.
Highest-yield topics (the ones that show up year after year)
- Equations of motion (kinematics) — every paper
- Newton's laws + friction calculations
- Work, energy, power — derivations + numericals
- Circular motion and gravitation — FSc 1
- Capacitors and DC circuits — FSc 2 favourite
- Wave equation, interference, diffraction (Young's double slit) — FSc 2
- Photoelectric effect and Bohr's model — FSc 2 modern physics
Drill these first. If you can't do every one of these cold, work through them with /explain or /problem-variants.
Common mistakes that quietly cost marks
- Skipping the 'Given / Required' setup on numericals — markers want to see the data extracted
- Forgetting units in final answers — auto-deduction
- Mixing SI and CGS units — pick one and stick to it
- Writing F = ma without specifying direction (vector notation)
- Forgetting g = 9.8 m/s² unless the question specifies 10 m/s²
When you mark your past papers, tag each lost mark to one of these. The pattern reveals where to focus.
Where to get real past papers
- FBISE past papers
- Caravan Physics FSc guide
- ECAT past papers from utets.uet.edu.pk for Pre-Engineering
Realistic study plan
Weeks 8-6: derivations from memory, one per day. Weeks 5-4: numerical practice (3 a day). Weeks 3-2: timed past papers. Final week: review formula sheet, sleep early.
