WAEC GCE 2026 Second Series: Timetable, Dates and Results

What the second series is

The WASSCE for Private Candidates, which most people still call WAEC GCE, is the exam you sit outside the school system. No principal signs you up: you register yourself, choose your subjects, and sit at a centre WAEC assigns. For the 2026 second series, WAEC's registration guide required at least eight and at most nine subjects, with English Language and Mathematics compulsory. WAEC normally runs the private-candidate exam twice a year.

The official timetable and dates

WAEC published a document titled the final timetable for the 2026 second series, internally dated August 2026, on its registration portal and on waecnigeria.org. That document sets the window as Friday 4 September to Wednesday 28 October 2026. The first entry, on 4 September, was the practical planning session for Foods and Nutrition 3 and Home Management 3. Orals and practical tests in Arabic, French, Music, Foods and Nutrition and Home Management fell between 14 and 25 September, at dates and times WAEC arranged. The main written papers started on Tuesday 22 September with Further Mathematics. General Mathematics was on Saturday 3 October and English Language, including its separate Test of Orals, on Saturday 17 October. The document puts the last papers, in Technical Drawing, on Wednesday 28 October. The timetable also set two rules: where a question paper stated a different duration from the timetable, the question paper was to be followed, and candidates with special needs were to get one and a half times the allotted time.

Registration

When this page was checked on 28 October 2026, WAEC's results website, waecdirect.org, stated that normal registration ended on Friday 18 September 2026, that walk-in registration began the next day, and that registration PINs could be bought at WAEC offices up till the end of the examination. WAEC's final timetable puts the last papers on Wednesday 28 October 2026. To sit again, you register for a later series once WAEC opens registration for it.

Results, and what WAEC has not announced

WAEC had not published a results date for the 2026 second series on waecdirect.org or on WAEC Nigeria's news page when this page was checked on 28 October 2026, so treat any date you see elsewhere as a guess until WAEC confirms it. When results are released, private candidates check them on waecdirect.org: enter your 10-digit WAEC examination number and the four-digit exam year, choose Private Candidate Results, then enter the e-PIN voucher number and the PIN on it.

If you need to sit again

If you need to sit again, build timed practice into your revision instead of only rereading notes. The free mock exam generator on this site builds a timed practice set on any topic you choose, and the quiz tool suits shorter daily drills of ten or twenty questions. For essay papers, practise handwritten answers under time, then type them into the AI marking tool to see where the marks leak. For mathematics, the math solver shows a full worked solution you can compare with your own working, which matters because WAEC's chief examiners have criticised candidates for leaving out essential working. When WAEC publishes the timetable for your next sitting, plan one timed mock a week plus a daily quiz, starting with the subjects that come earliest.
